DAY 1
Welcome in our hotel! At the bar a welcome juice is available for you all day long!
Upon the check in our receptionist will provide you with useful directions and suggestions together with a free map of Athens.
You’ll probably arrive after a long trip so your next worry should be a good lunch or dinner. There is no need to go far….only 200 metres from our hotel there are two traditional tavernas inhabited mainly by locals and serve Greek delicious cuisine in fair prices.
After relaxing, it is a good idea to get a first taste of Athens centre on foot.
From our hotel head to Aiolou str. where the historic centre of Athens starts. Continue to the most famous commercial road of Athens Ermou street. Next ,are the famous neighborhoods of Monastiraki, Thisio and Plaka. You will spend a couple of hours here as each offers a splendid view to the Acropolis , vast variety of shops, cafes & restaurants, architecture and a taste of old and new Athens.
If you want to try some clubbing, then visit the area of Psiri right next to Monastiraki an area known for the trendy clubs and bar restaurants and taverns with live Greek music.
DAY 2
Enjoy your breakfast in our hotel and make sure to wear comfortable shoes before you head out.
Begin your tour with a visit to Acropolis & the Parthenon and of course the New Acropolis Museum. You can take advantage of the metro from Omonia Square which is 500 metres from our hotel and get off at the Acropolis station.(3rd stop from Omonia).
Head first towards Acropolis Hill and visit the Propylae, the temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion with its porch of Maidens and finally the marvelous Parthenon .
Enjoy the spectacular view of the city and return back in order to visit the surrounding monuments as well as the hills of Philopappos, Mars,and Pnyx, the Observatory, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the Ancient Agora.After finishing it should be time for lunch and some rest.
Stroll around Plaka where you can pick up a restaurant and taste delicious Greek cuisine and wine or indulge in the fast food Greek style … the souvlaki.
After resting is time to visit the New Acropolis Museum where all the treasures of Acropolis area are exhibited. The collections, the architecture with the combination of the natural lighting and the panoramic views make the visit at Museum and unforgettable experience.
Return to the hotel by the metro.
DAY 3
Today, it is time to go to Syntagma Square ,The Parliament, Lycabetus Hill and the important Museums and monuments around the area.
Take the metro until Syntagma Square . Head to the Parliament and spend some time for watching the changing of the presidential guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and why not… pose for a photo.
Afterwards, head to Kolonaki district at the base of Lycabettus Hill. Kolonaki is a chic and up market district, and a fashionable meeting area . Stroll around and head towards the funicular in order to go up on Lycabettus Hill. Visit the chapel of Saint George on the top , enjoy the spectacular scenery and don’t forget to take photos.
Return back by the same way have a rest in one of the hundreds cozy café- restaurants in Kolonaki and afterwards visit the important sightseeing’s of the area.
The National Garden and the Temple of Olympians Zeus, The Benaki Museum, the Byzantine and Christian Museum, the Museum of Cycladic Art and the Numismatic Museum.
DAY 4
Time to visit the National Archaelogical Museum located only 150 metres far from our hotel.
Its collections are some of the most important findings from a variety of archaeological locations around Greece from prehistory to late antiquity. It contains the richest collection of Greek antiquity worldwide
Afterwards try the best half day trip of Athens. The temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion . The route is about 1 ½ hours alongside the coastal east Athens. There are coach buses every one hour leaving from Pedion Areos square which is only 220 metres from our hotel.
Alternatively, you can choose an organized tour (the reception staff can make the booking for you and the pickup point is very close ).
Cape Sounion is the site of the ruins of an ancient Greek temple of Poseidon. It is well preserved and the sunset over the Aegean Sea is breathtaking.
Return to Athens for dinner.
DAY 5
Time for an excursion outside Athens.
Tour companies offer a great variety of one day/half day tours at the most important sightseeing’s close to Athens.
Time wise and weather wise you can choose among:
Wine Tasting and Ancient Corinth ,
Epidaurus & Mycenae with short stop to Nafplio
Delphi
Cruise to Poros, Hydra and Aegina.
